Location: Douliu Sugar Factory - Jhu Chuang Sen Base
Through the use of bamboo structures, we reflect on our relationship with the environment. By reconsidering the essence of construction, we respond to the systemic rhythms of our times. Twenty amateurs, each armed with a knife and an awl, under the guidance of elderly Zheng Haixiang from the Puyuma tribe and natural architect Lin Yayin, spent 18 days constructing a traditional Puyuma tribal youth center. As the course concludes, we have recorded the passing down of skills and the passion for the land, allowing you to experience the depth of Taiwanese culture.

Echo Dome

Echo Dome is a landmark, and its special and easy-to- remember shape attracts people to visit deeply, providing healing experience groups to hold activities, meals, etc. The bamboo shed uses bamboo to build a thin shell structure with a span of 18 meters. 穹頂竹棚 is currently the largest semi-outdoor space in Shibi Bamboo Recreational Forest Park. It uses natural materials such as bamboo and red copper roofing to provide more imaginations of interaction between people and nature.

Courtyard Restroom

Courtyard Restroom is a landscape public toilet. Each toilet has a small courtyard with planting in the courtyard, creating a novel experience that is both open and hidden. The design uses steel welding to form an arc structure, and the fir wood is stacked in the steel frame. The roof skeleton of the "firewood wall" stacked with fir firewood combines steel and bamboo structure to build a round roof like bamboo umbrellas to shield passengers from the wind and rain.

|A Second-class Attraction (Facilities serving fewer than 15 people)

The Ceder Trail

It is about 700 meters long and has two entrances and exits, connecting Yunling Hill (瀰霧之境) and theFifty-two dollar Trail respectively. China-fir Forest Trail is paved with stone bricks, which is easy to walk, and the ups and downs are gentle and winding down. On the way, it shuttles between the high fir trees, and the walk is comfortable, which is suitable for gentle walking and the whole family to enjoy the size of the forest.

Five Dollar and Two Cents Trail

Fifty-two dollar Trail elevation is about 1600 meters, surrounded by green  Mosochiku bamboo forest. The pavilions and green corridors along the road are made of  Mosochiku bamboo . Because there are many corners on the top of the pavilion, there are many angles from triangles to nine corners, adding up to 42 corners, and there is another round one that counts as one yuan, so the sum is five yuan and two dimes, which is the origin of the name of five yuan and two corners.

Muma Trail

The Ancient Log Trail , originally a timber trail used for transporting wood, has been reconstructed into a leisure trail. Meandering through a 516-hectare forest area, the trail passes through a mix of Phyllostachys pubescens bamboo and cedar forests, boasting intact primary trees and rich biodiversity. Blue magpies can be spotted in the woods, and along the way, visitors encounter bamboo pavilions, ecological ponds, the Stone Wall Hawk Bridge, remnants of charcoal kilns, and a high point scenic platform offering views of Jianan Cloud Peak and Stone Cliffs Mountain. The suspended Sheep Meadow Skywalk provides a close-up view of towering Chinese fir trees. The trail is serene, comfortable, and showcases beautiful forest scenes, with clear signage making it a family-friendly rest spot.

Breeze Platform

The south wind blows up from the bottom of the valley, and the scenery, sunshine, breeze and mountain storms of Alishan are intertwined and dance together. Therefore, this platform is the "Breeze Platform".

The Breeze pavilion

The elliptical ring connects the stage of the wind and shines with each other. The semi-outdoor bamboo shed provides a place for tourists to shelter from the sun and rain. Tables and chairs are set up under the bamboo shed, where tourists can enjoy the breeze, dining and rest.

|A Third-class Attraction (Facilities serving fewer than 5 people)

Yunling Hill Observatory Deck

Yunling Hill Observatory Deck stretching across Yunlin, Chiayi, and Nantou counties, stands at an elevation of around 1,650 meters. It provides a stunning view of sunrise, sunset, and ever-changing clouds. At the summit, a triangulation point observation platform showcases a humanoid sculpture by Ju Ming, cleverly pointing towards the three counties and symbolizing their unique meeting point.

The Foggy Balcony

The elevational changes on the hills of Yunling are significant. In addition to the distant views along the mountain ridges, the landscape preserves the beauty of the azalea flower sea, while clusters of wild peonies are strategically arranged like a maze. Incorporating the natural flow of the landscape, a maze is created that respects the existing environment, allowing for a friendly interaction with the natural surroundings. This approach fosters a harmonious connection with the mist and scenery of the hills.

The Stillness Seats

Situated near the flatter terrain alongside the Ancient Log Trail, Breeze Platform is enveloped by the trail, creating a bamboo grove area. It serves as a key spot close to the main entrance, offering a space for relaxation, pre-trip briefings, and experiential activities. Wander through the serene bamboo forest, find a seat beneath bamboo pergolas to rest. With earthen walls and roofs blocking the view and sounds from the riverside trail, attention is directed to the bamboo leaves, the sky, and the interplay of light and shadow, initiating forest healing activities.

Bamboo-Pine Square

Adapting to the terrain, two main platforms have been arranged, using locally distinctive stone walls as retaining walls for the platforms, with the stone walls and bamboo groves enhancing the scenic impression of the stone cliffs. The upper platform serves as a parking area and vendor space, while the lower platform is the 'Pine Bamboo Plaza.' Sandstone blocks are artfully arranged in a staggered manner, with a gravel ground cover. The natural demeanor is showcased through the planting of Japanese white pines and fountain grass, complementing the adjacent bamboo groves, creating an aesthetically pleasing landscape.

Whisper Lounge

Choose a tranquil spot amidst the bamboo and cedar groves near the Ancient Log Trail to set up a seating area with reclining chairs for multiple people. Lean back and gaze at the swaying treetops and bamboo leaves, listening to the gentle whispers of the bamboo grove. Experience the joy of sound in silence. The materials used in the Whisper Lounge include steel and integrated bamboo composite.

Labyrinth

The bamboo grove near the stone wall follows a double spiral design, with separate paths for entry and exit that never intersect. Although its shape appears simple, the labyrinth operates systematically, offering a serene space for individual strolls and reflection. Additionally, it serves as a venue for group therapeutic activities.

Meditation Platform

To meet the needs of forest healing programs, a versatile platform is set up in the bamboo grove. It's used for activities like forest yoga and meditation. It's open for public use during regular hours and prioritized for healing groups during scheduled program activities.

Fuhu Cave Trail

In the early days of Japanese rule in Taiwan, the Taiwanese, driven by a strong sense of resistance to foreign domination, formed volunteer armies in various regions to oppose the rule. Amidst ongoing anti-Japanese incidents, prominent armed resistance leaders emerged, namely Kuan Ta-shih in the north, Ko T'ieh-hu in the central region, and Lin Shao-mao in the south, collectively known as the 'Three Fierce Warriors of Lion, Tiger, and Cat Against Japan.' According to local elders' oral accounts, in order to evade Japanese military searches, Ko T'ieh-hu once hid in the mountainous areas of Grass Mountain and Stone Cliffs. The 'Fuhu Cave' served as a hiding place for Ko T'ieh-hu and others, ultimately becoming the site of his demise. The natural stone cave, concealed among the mountains and forests, remained discreet and difficult to discover, with a waterfall curtain providing a secretive cover. Ko T'ieh-hu, likened to a tiger among men, once lurked in the local mountains, giving rise to the picturesque name 'Wo Hu Cave.' The beautiful mountain scenery of 'Jianan Cloud Peak' and 'Stone Cliffs Mountain' in Shihbi, resembling a dragon in form, along with the Fuhu Cave, collectively create the renowned locale known as the 'Hidden Dragon and Crouching Tiger.
